Description
Join us for an evening of music while enjoying a beautiful Lake Michigan sunset! The Summer Sun Sets Concert Series will feature nationally touring artists while giving local students the opportunity to perform alongside and with them in the community. - Originally from Plainwell Michigan, 25 year old folk singer/songwriter Luke Woltanski spent his summers up north were he developed a love for the Traverse City and Leelanau Area music scene. Luke was classically trained in vocal performance from age 5 and taught himself to play guitar at age 13. In the same year, while in Empire, MI, Luke bought his first harmonica (a Chromatic harp in the key of C) from an estate sale. He quickly learned to play and two summers later, at only 15, Luke played his first show for an art opening at Lake Street Studios in Glen Arbor, MI. He sang and played original tunes as well as covers on harmonica and guitar. He would continue to play shows in the area until he eventually put himself through college by playing shows in the summers. Having graduated in 2020 with his degree from Hillsdale College in Biology and Genomic Engineering, Luke decided to use the opportunities that the chaos of COVID afforded him to attempt the persuit of music full time. It would seem he made the right decision. Now scheduled nearly a year in advance Luke plays 5-6 shows a week on average totaling over 230 shows a year. In 2023 Luke released his fifth studio album “Mockingbird.” This album was recorded over the course of two years, and the songs tell the story of Luke’s first two years as a full time musician. Luke can be heard playing at any number of your favorite venues in the greater Traverse City and Leelanau areas. He plays many other great places across Michigan and even in Georgia, where Luke will occasionally find a retreat to rest and write.
